The Gaza death toll nears 73,100 after five more Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ministry said the latest casualties raised the total number of deaths since October 2023 to 73,098. Officials added that hospitals also treated several injured people during the same reporting period.
In its daily update, the ministry reported that hospitals across Gaza received the bodies of five Palestinians. Three of the victims were newly killed, while two bodies were recovered from beneath the rubble of damaged buildings. Seven additional people were reported injured, bringing the total number of wounded since the conflict began to 173,571.
Health officials said many victims are still trapped under collapsed structures or lying on roads that emergency responders cannot safely access. Ongoing damage and difficult security conditions have continued to hinder ambulance and civil defence teams from reaching several affected areas.
According to the ministry, Israeli military operations have continued despite a ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025. It stated that 1,072 Palestinians have been killed and 3,463 injured during the truce period. These figures have intensified concerns about the humanitarian situation in the territory.
The conflict has caused widespread destruction across Gaza, with large sections of residential neighbourhoods, public buildings and essential infrastructure severely damaged. The United Nations has estimated that rebuilding the territory will require approximately 70 billion dollars, highlighting the scale of reconstruction needed.
Humanitarian agencies have also expressed concern over shortages of food, medicines, medical supplies, shelter materials and prefabricated housing. Aid organisations say restrictions on the delivery of essential goods have worsened living conditions for Gaza’s population, including large numbers of displaced families.
