Prime Minister Andy Burnham will welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a British naval base on Monday. According to the UK government, the leaders are expected to reaffirm Britain’s unwavering support for Ukraine as the conflict with Russia continues.
During the visit, Burnham and Zelenskyy will meet around 200 Ukrainian soldiers and sailors who recently completed three weeks of training under Exercise Sea Breeze. The naval security and counter-mine exercise is designed to improve operational readiness for future missions in the Black Sea.
The British government will also announce a new defense cooperation initiative by sharing the intellectual property for Stone Cloak, a British-developed electronic jammer. The system is designed to prevent Russian air defense systems from detecting and targeting Ukrainian drones.
Officials said the move reflects Britain’s continued efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities through technology sharing and military training. London has remained one of Kyiv’s key international partners since the start of the conflict.
