Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ: Pakistan Announces Public Holiday on August 26

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a public holiday across Pakistan on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ.

According to the official notification, the holiday will be observed on Wednesday, August 26, to mark 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.

The notification was issued by the Cabinet Division after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the public holiday. Government offices and other institutions covered under the notification will remain closed on the designated day.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ is observed by Muslims across Pakistan to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Religious gatherings, processions and special programmes are traditionally held in different parts of the country on this occasion.

The announcement provides citizens with an official holiday to observe the religious occasion. Authorities are also expected to make arrangements for security and public convenience during events held across the country.

The public holiday will apply nationwide in accordance with the Cabinet Division’s notification. Citizens are advised to check any separate instructions issued by their respective institutions or departments.

With the federal government’s approval, August 26, 2026 (Wednesday) will be observed as a public holiday throughout Pakistan for Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ.
