Government of Punjab has officially announced four-day public holidays across the province on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. According to the notification issued by the provincial administration, holidays will be observed from May 26 to May 29.
As per the official notification, all government offices, educational institutions, and other related public departments across Punjab will remain closed during the four-day holiday period. The decision has been taken to facilitate citizens in preparing for and celebrating Eid ul Adha with their families.
Provincial authorities stated that the extended holidays are aimed at providing convenience to the public, especially those planning to travel to their hometowns for the religious festival. Eid ul Adha is one of the most significant Islamic occasions, celebrated with religious devotion, animal sacrifice, and family gatherings.
The announcement has been welcomed by citizens across Punjab, particularly employees and students who will benefit from the longer holiday break. Many families are expected to use the holidays for travel, shopping, and Eid preparations ahead of the festivities.
Earlier, the Government of Pakistan had announced three-day Eid holidays across the country. However, the Punjab government decided to extend the break by one additional day, making it a four-day public holiday schedule for the province.
Officials have advised citizens to follow cleanliness and safety measures during Eid celebrations, especially while handling sacrificial animals and disposing of waste responsibly. Municipal authorities are also expected to implement special sanitation plans in major cities during the Eid holidays.
