PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has opposed controversial legislation on new provinces in Pakistan. He warned that a rushed decision could weaken the unity of the federation.
Speaking outside the Supreme Court, Gohar said the PTI founder should be allowed to meet political leaders and family members. He also called for meetings with Allama Raja Nasir and Mahmood Khan Achakzai. He said Achakzai had written to the prime minister about the Election Commission issue.
Gohar said previous negotiations had remained limited to offers. He called for meaningful progress on the matter. He also warned that unilateral decisions could trigger a strong public reaction.
The PTI chairman thanked the people of Sindh for warmly welcoming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. He said the reception showed that people did not want the existing political status quo to continue.
On terrorism, Gohar urged political leaders to avoid point-scoring and political statements. He claimed India and RAW were behind terrorism in Pakistan. He called for a serious national approach, noting that civilians and security personnel continued to make sacrifices.
Speaking about new provinces in Pakistan, Gohar said the issue was serious and required debate. He opposed controversial legislation aimed at creating new provinces and urged lawmakers to consider its wider impact.
Gohar said dividing Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan without the consent of elected representatives or the public could create complications. He called for consultation similar to the process used for the 18th Amendment. He warned that a rushed decision could go against the unity of the federation.
