Heavy Rain Forecast Rawalpindi

Heavy Rain Forecast for Rawalpindi as Authorities Step Up Preparations

Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi, prompting local authorities to step up preparations across the city. According to the weather department, the city is currently experiencing cloudy conditions, while there is a strong possibility of heavy rain in the coming hours.

The expected rainfall has raised concerns about water accumulation in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi. Authorities have advised relevant departments to remain alert and ensure that emergency arrangements are in place to deal with any situation that may arise due to heavy downpours.

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has deployed additional teams in low-lying areas of the city. Officials said field staff have been placed at key locations to respond quickly to drainage-related problems and prevent rainwater from accumulating on roads and in residential areas.

Special arrangements have also been made around Nullah Lai, one of Rawalpindi’s major waterways. Personnel from Rescue 1122, WASA and Civil Defence have been deployed around the water channel to respond immediately if the water level rises or an emergency situation develops.

Meanwhile, WASA teams are closely monitoring Nullah Lai as well as other drains across the city. Officials are keeping a close watch on water levels and drainage conditions, allowing emergency teams to take timely action if heavy rainfall causes flooding or other problems.

In view of the possibility of severe weather, WASA has also cancelled staff holidays and directed employees to remain available for duty. The move is aimed at ensuring that sufficient personnel are available to manage drainage operations and respond to emergencies throughout the rainfall.
