The controversy involving Punjab Assembly member and actress Momina Iqbal has escalated after the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) summoned both parties for questioning. The case has attracted significant public attention due to allegations of online harassment, cyberbullying, and political influence.
According to reports, the NCCIA issued notices after Momina Iqbal filed a formal complaint alleging that she had been facing continuous online harassment and mental pressure from an influential political personality. She also claimed that she received threats to her life over an extended period.
The actress shared a detailed statement on Instagram, stating that she had repeatedly approached the NCCIA, FIA, and Punjab Police regarding the matter. However, she alleged that no effective action was taken because of political influence and pressure.
Momina Iqbal further claimed that instead of receiving justice, she was discouraged from pursuing the case. She said both she and her family members were facing serious security threats and demanded immediate protection from authorities.
In her social media posts, the actress appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and other senior officials to ensure a transparent and impartial investigation. She also tagged government institutions, news channels, and media platforms to draw attention to the issue.
Meanwhile, the Punjab MPA involved in the controversy reportedly filed a separate case in his native district through his cousin, alleging that unidentified individuals had issued threats against him. This development has added another layer of complexity to the ongoing dispute.
In a later Instagram story, Momina Iqbal thanked Maryam Nawaz for the action taken by the NCCIA. However, she also requested the public and media not to accuse or name anyone until her official statement is fully recorded. The actress further claimed that additional women had contacted her, alleging similar harassment by the same MPA.
