Pakistani security forces have foiled a Chaman infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, according to security sources. Several Afghan Taliban personnel were reportedly killed during the response.
The incident took place in the Chaman sector after an alleged attempt was made from the Afghan side to enter Pakistani territory. Security sources said firing was also reported in the border area during the incident.
Pakistan’s security forces responded to the firing and launched retaliatory action, according to the sources. The response reportedly prevented the alleged infiltration attempt and stopped the attackers from entering Pakistani territory.
Security sources said Pakistani forces also targeted positions linked to the Afghan Taliban. Quadcopters and mortar fire were reportedly used to destroy posts involved in the reported cross-border action.
The Chaman infiltration attempt comes amid continued tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. A similar infiltration attempt was also reportedly foiled earlier in the Gulistan sector.
The exact number of casualties from the latest incident has not been disclosed. Security sources said several Afghan Taliban personnel were killed during the Pakistani response, while Pakistani forces remained alert along the border.
Security forces said they remain prepared to respond to any further attempt to cross into Pakistani territory from Afghanistan. The latest Chaman infiltration attempt adds to recent reported incidents along the Pak-Afghan border.
