The Peshawar High Court has directed a citizen named Quaid-e-Azam to appear before the NADRA Board while hearing a petition challenging the blocking of his national identity card.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad and Justice Inamullah Khan conducted the hearing of the petition filed by Quaid-e-Azam, who challenged the suspension of his identity card by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that Quaid-e-Azam is a businessman and his identity card had been blocked, causing difficulties in carrying out his personal and professional matters.
Representing NADRA, Director Legal told the court that the petitioner’s identity card was blocked because it was considered suspicious. The official maintained that the action was taken in accordance with the authority’s procedures for verification and record assessment.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the Peshawar High Court instructed the petitioner, Quaid-e-Azam, to appear before the NADRA Board for further review of the matter.
The court’s direction allows NADRA’s relevant forum to examine the case details and make a decision after completing the required verification process.
Cases involving blocked identity cards often require detailed verification of personal records and citizenship information. Courts generally ensure that affected individuals have an opportunity to present their position before the concerned authorities.
