Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said that negotiations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) cannot take place until the party postpones its planned long march. He said the government remains in contact with PTI leaders through backchannel communication.
Speaking about the Rana Sanaullah PTI talks issue, the adviser said dialogue could not proceed while the long march remained on the agenda. He added that the government was monitoring the situation and would respond to developments accordingly.
Rana Sanaullah said containers had been placed in Islamabad as part of security arrangements. According to him, the containers were positioned along roadsides and were not blocking traffic. He maintained that roads in the capital remained open.
The prime minister’s adviser said backchannel contacts with PTI leadership were still continuing. However, he maintained that formal negotiations could not begin until the proposed long march was postponed.
Rana Sanaullah also questioned whether the announced long march would actually take place. He said statements about the march were being issued, but suggested that there had been no practical movement indicating that it would proceed as announced.
The government has been taking security measures in Islamabad amid political tensions surrounding the proposed protest activity. Rana Sanaullah said authorities would not allow anyone to enter the capital and create disorder.
The latest remarks come as the government and PTI remain at odds over political issues and protest plans. While backchannel communication reportedly continues, Rana Sanaullah’s statement indicates that the government is linking formal dialogue to the postponement of the long march.
