Saudi Arabia operation against Houthis

Saudi Arabia Plans Major Operation Against Houthis: Reuters

Saudi Arabia is reportedly preparing a major Saudi Arabia operation against Houthis, with more than 100,000 Yemeni personnel potentially being mobilised, according to a Reuters report.

Under the reported plan, Yemeni forces would conduct ground operations with support from Saudi air strikes. The operation could begin within the next few weeks, although no final launch date has been announced.

Reuters reported that Saudi Arabia is considering two possible options for the Saudi Arabia operation against Houthis. One option involves a limited operation around the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The second option would involve a wider campaign across several fronts in Yemen. The areas reportedly being considered include Al Bayda, Marib, Taiz and Al Jawf, with operations potentially taking place at the same time.

According to Reuters, the United States is providing intelligence and information related to potential targets to support Saudi planning. However, direct US military participation in combat operations is not expected under the reported plan.

The report also said Pakistan and Turkey are providing Saudi Arabia with defence and military equipment. However, there has been no decision for either country to take part in combat operations in Yemen.

The reported Saudi Arabia operation against Houthis would represent a significant development in the Yemen conflict if carried out. Details of the proposed operation remain subject to decisions by Saudi authorities, while its possible timing and scope have not been formally confirmed.
