Three More Bodies Recovered After Deadly Broad Peak Avalanche

Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of three more climbers who lost their lives in the recent avalanche on Broad Peak in northern Pakistan. The bodies have been transported to the base camp as recovery operations continue in the challenging mountain terrain.

The avalanche struck Broad Peak a few days ago, claiming the lives of 10 climbers. The incident is considered one of the most tragic mountaineering disasters in the region in recent years, prompting an extensive search and recovery mission.

According to rescue sources, the three recovered bodies were located at an altitude of approximately 5,000 meters, where harsh weather conditions and difficult terrain made recovery efforts extremely challenging. The remains were successfully brought down to the base camp.

Officials also confirmed that the body of a Nepali climber has reached the base camp. The climber’s remains are expected to be transported for final funeral rites in the United Kingdom, in accordance with family arrangements.

Authorities plan to airlift the recovered bodies to Skardu by helicopter, allowing for identification procedures and further arrangements before they are handed over to the families.

Despite ongoing rescue efforts, the bodies of two missing climbers have not yet been found. The missing individuals include Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi and a female climber. Search operations remain active, although difficult weather and the dangerous mountain environment continue to hamper progress.

Rescue teams and local authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the search while prioritizing the safety of recovery personnel.
