Prince Rahim Aga Khan Arrives in Gilgit-Baltistan

Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V arrived in Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday as part of his ongoing official visit to Pakistan. The Prince Rahim Aga Khan Visit has attracted significant attention across the region, where he is expected to attend several public gatherings and ceremonial events during his stay.

According to state media reports, Prince Rahim was welcomed at Gilgit airport by Gilgit-Baltistan caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Yar Muhammad along with senior civil and military officials. Local authorities also arranged special receptions and displayed welcome banners across different parts of Gilgit city.

The Prince Rahim Aga Khan Visit marks his first trip to Pakistan since he became the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community last year. He arrived in Pakistan earlier this week for a seven-day visit that will continue until May 26.

Since his arrival, Prince Rahim has held important meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Officials said discussions focused on cooperation in human development, education, healthcare, and community welfare initiatives.

A breakfast meeting hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also held in Islamabad, where Prince Rahim expressed interest in continuing development partnerships with Pakistan. The Prime Minister’s Office stated that both sides discussed expanding cooperation in social and economic sectors.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, Prince Rahim is expected to visit Hunza, Gilgit City, Gahkuch Bala, and Taus Yasin, where large public gatherings are anticipated. Authorities have declared him a state guest, and extensive preparations were completed ahead of his arrival to ensure security and smooth arrangements.

The Prince Rahim Aga Khan Visit is being viewed as an important event for the Ismaili community and the broader region. This is his second visit to Pakistan since 2024, when he received the Nishan-i-Pakistan in recognition of the Aga Khan family’s longstanding contributions to the country.
