The government has increased petrol and diesel dealer margins by Rs1.34 per litre, according to sources. The revised margins will take effect from midnight following the issuance of an official notification.
The increase applies to both petrol and diesel dealers across Pakistan. The decision is expected to change the amount dealers earn on every litre of fuel sold at filling stations.
According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the margin on petrol has been raised to Rs9.98 per litre. The previous margin for petrol dealers stood at Rs8.64 per litre.
The petrol and diesel dealer margins for diesel have also been increased by Rs1.34 per litre. Following the revision, diesel dealers will receive a margin of Rs9.98 per litre.
Sources said the revised rates will come into effect at 12am. The decision comes as the government continues to review petroleum-related pricing and dealer margins in the country.
The increase directly affects fuel dealers, whose margins are linked to the retail sale of petroleum products. However, the reported decision does not itself indicate a corresponding increase in the retail prices of petrol or diesel.
The latest revision brings the petrol and diesel dealer margins to the same level of Rs9.98 per litre. The move is expected to remain a key development for fuel dealers and consumers monitoring petroleum prices.
