Government Announces Property Tax Relief for Filers in Budget 2026-27

The government has announced significant property tax relief Pakistan filers as part of the federal budget 2026-27, reducing withholding tax rates on both purchase and sale of real estate transactions.

According to the budget speech presented in the National Assembly by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the withholding tax for filers on property purchases has been reduced from 2.5 percent to 1.25 percent.

This move is part of broader efforts to ease the burden on compliant taxpayers under the property tax relief Pakistan filers policy and to encourage documented real estate activity in the country.

Similarly, the government has also reduced withholding tax on property sales for filers from 5.5 percent to 2.75 percent, effectively lowering transaction costs for investors and property owners.

Officials say the reduction aims to improve liquidity in the real estate sector while promoting transparency and encouraging more people to become active tax filers.

The announcement was made during the ongoing budget session in the National Assembly, where the government is presenting a federal budget exceeding Rs18 trillion.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated that these reforms are designed to balance revenue collection with relief measures for the property tax relief Pakistan filers category.

Experts believe the revised tax structure may stimulate property market activity and increase formal real estate transactions in the coming fiscal year.
