Bilawal Bhutto Postpones Budget Speech as PPP-Government Differences Persist

Islamabad: Differences between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the federal government over the proposed budget remain unresolved, prompting PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to postpone his speech during the ongoing budget debate in the National Assembly.

According to party sources, senior PPP leader Naved Qamar provided a detailed briefing to Bilawal Bhutto regarding the federal budget and the concerns raised by the party leadership. The briefing focused on discrepancies between the budget proposals discussed with the PPP and the figures ultimately presented in parliament.

Sources said Naved Qamar informed Bilawal that several budgetary measures and financial details shared with the PPP during consultations differed significantly from those included in the budget document presented before the National Assembly.

The reported differences have sparked concern within the PPP leadership, which believes that the final budget does not fully reflect the understanding reached during discussions with government representatives. Party leaders are expected to seek an immediate explanation from the government regarding these inconsistencies.

According to insiders, the PPP plans to engage directly with the government to clarify the matter. A high-level party delegation is expected to contact key government officials in the coming days to discuss the disputed budget provisions and seek answers.

The disagreement has added a new dimension to the ongoing budget debate, highlighting tensions within the ruling coalition’s political framework. Observers believe the issue could influence parliamentary discussions on the budget in the days ahead.
