Government Refiles Review Plea on Imran Khan Hospital Transfer

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah has said the government has re-filed its review petition over the decision concerning Imran Khan hospital transfer. He said the government will wait for the court’s decision.

Speaking to reporters at Parliament House, Rana Sanaullah said there was no deadline for moving the PTI founder to a hospital. He added that the government was following the Constitution and the law.

He said the government had submitted the review petition again after the earlier application was returned with objections. According to Rana Sanaullah, the court’s decision could come today or tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the adviser raised concerns about the possible impact of the Supreme Court decision on the criminal justice system. He said decisions of the Supreme Court are binding on lower courts.

Rana Sanaullah questioned whether allowing one prisoner to receive treatment at a private hospital could lead other prisoners to seek similar relief. He said this could create difficulties for lower courts in future cases.

He also referred to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s case. Rana said Nawaz Sharif was taken from prison to Services Hospital, where a medical board recommended treatment abroad. The government later allowed him to travel for treatment.

Earlier, the Supreme Court registrar’s office had returned the government’s petition with objections. Sources said one objection concerned incomplete paper books attached to the review petition. The government has now re-filed the Imran Khan hospital transfer review plea.
