PCB Central Contracts

PCB to keep central contracts details confidential

The PCB Central Contracts structure is set to undergo significant changes, with the Pakistan Cricket Board deciding not to publicly disclose the number of players receiving contracts or the categories in which they will be placed. The move marks a shift from previous practices where contract details were regularly announced.

According to the PCB, information regarding how many players are included in the central contracts list and their respective categories will remain confidential. Officials believe these decisions fall under the selection process and therefore do not need to be made public.

Sources indicate that the new PCB Central Contracts model will also introduce stricter domestic cricket requirements for contracted players. Cricketers will be expected to participate in domestic competitions according to the track or format under which they are contracted.

Players have reportedly been informed about the minimum number of domestic matches they may be required to play. Current proposals suggest contracted players could be asked to feature in up to five first-class matches and up to 10 List A games during the season.

The revised PCB Central Contracts policy also emphasizes player availability for domestic cricket. Sources say players without international assignments will be required to remain available for domestic tournaments and competitions throughout the season.

Another notable aspect of the new system is flexibility across formats. Players included in the central contracts pool will remain eligible for selection in Test, One-Day International and T20 International cricket, depending on team requirements and performance considerations.

Cricket observers believe the updated PCB Central Contracts framework is aimed at strengthening the domestic structure while ensuring greater player participation. The policy is also expected to improve the connection between domestic performances and national team selection in the coming seasons.
