PTI Faces Internal Divisions Over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Budget

Differences have surfaced within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the presentation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The development has highlighted varying opinions within the party over how the provincial government should proceed with the budget process.

Several party leaders have reportedly expressed reservations about presenting the budget at this stage and have called an important meeting to discuss the issue. The gathering is expected to focus on the party’s strategy and the political implications of moving forward with the provincial budget.

Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani stated that the meeting would help determine the party’s future course of action regarding the budget. He argued that the provincial leadership had previously indicated that the budget would not be presented before a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan.

According to Mushtaq Ghani, presenting the budget before such a meeting could weaken political pressure on the federal government. He questioned how pressure could be maintained if the budget process continued without addressing demands related to meetings with the party’s founder.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan took a different position on the matter. He emphasized that the provincial budget is an internal issue of the province and that its approval is a constitutional and legal responsibility of the government.

Barrister Gohar further stated that the budget has no direct connection with the federal government and that the province is not presenting or passing the budget at the request of federal authorities. He stressed that constitutional obligations must be fulfilled regardless of ongoing political disputes.
