JD Vance Outlines Conditions for New US-Iran Relations

US Vice President JD Vance has said that Washington is prepared to build a new chapter in US Iran relations if Tehran abandons activities that contribute to regional instability and permanently gives up its nuclear program. His remarks came as diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East continue to gain momentum.

Speaking about the future of the region, Vance said the United States wants to bring positive change through diplomacy rather than conflict. He emphasized that the goal is to create a future marked by peace, stability, and economic prosperity for all countries in the Middle East. His comments highlighted Washington’s interest in pursuing diplomatic engagement.

The vice president stated that attention should now shift toward future opportunities following developments related to Iran’s nuclear program. According to Vance, recent diplomatic contacts have opened the door to discussions that were previously considered difficult. The future of US Iran relations will largely depend on decisions taken by Iran’s leadership.

Referring to talks held in Switzerland, Vance described the discussions as an important diplomatic milestone. He noted that high-level engagement between American and Iranian representatives had rarely reached such a stage in the past. The meetings have raised hopes for further dialogue between the two countries.

Vance also revealed that President Donald Trump had directed officials to pursue a fresh diplomatic approach. He said the administration aims to improve relations with the Iranian people while working toward long-term peace and regional development. The latest efforts are being viewed as a potential turning point in US Iran relations.

According to American officials, discussions with Iran resulted in an agreement on a framework for future contacts between political leaders and technical teams. This framework is expected to facilitate continued communication and help address outstanding issues through dialogue rather than confrontation.

The US vice president also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their role in supporting diplomatic efforts. Vance described Asim Munir as an outstanding military leader and an effective diplomat. He suggested that the progress seen so far may not have been possible without strategic leadership and cooperation, adding a new dimension to evolving US Iran relations.
