The latest US-Iran talks were held at Bürgenstock in Switzerland, where both sides discussed mechanisms to sustain diplomatic engagement and reduce tensions. Technical-level negotiations are expected to continue throughout the week as experts work on details related to the implementation of the understanding reached during the meeting.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the leadership of both the United States and Iran for demonstrating commitment to dialogue and constructive engagement. He also thanked friendly countries that supported the diplomatic process, particularly Qatar and Switzerland, for their contributions in facilitating the negotiations.

A joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar confirmed that the US-Iran talks had produced a framework for continued engagement. The statement noted that both sides agreed on a mechanism aimed at ending hostilities in Lebanon and established communication channels to support the safe movement of commercial shipping through sensitive maritime routes.

Iranian officials later stated that discussions had resulted in progress on economic matters, including waivers for oil and petrochemical exports, access to certain frozen assets, and plans for reconstruction and development initiatives.
