India and the United Arab Emirates are reportedly engaged in discussions regarding a possible BrahMos missile sale, according to sources familiar with the matter. The talks involve some of India’s most advanced defence systems, including the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and the Akashteer air defence network, reflecting growing defence cooperation between the two countries.
Sources indicated that negotiations remain at an early stage but are progressing rapidly. The UAE has reportedly expressed interest in several Indian-made military platforms as it seeks to strengthen its defence capabilities amid evolving security challenges in the Middle East. The potential BrahMos missile sale would represent one of the most significant defence deals between India and a Gulf nation.
Jointly developed by India and Russia, the BrahMos missile is regarded as one of the world’s fastest operational cruise missiles. It can be launched from land, sea, and air platforms and is capable of striking targets with high precision. The Akashteer system, meanwhile, is designed to integrate air defence assets and provide automated threat detection and response capabilities.
Security analysts suggest the UAE is exploring new defence partnerships as part of a broader strategy to diversify military suppliers. Recent regional conflicts have prompted Gulf countries to reassess defence preparedness and invest in advanced technologies capable of addressing emerging threats.
