Passport Fee Payments

Pakistan to End Cash Passport Fee Payments from July 1

Pakistan’s Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has announced that cash payments for passport fees will be discontinued at all passport offices across the country starting July 1, 2026. The move is part of the government’s broader effort to modernize public services through digital transformation.

The decision was discussed during a meeting of zonal heads chaired by Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Officials were briefed on upcoming reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in passport-related services.

According to the briefing, passport applicants will no longer be able to pay fees in cash at passport offices. Instead, all payments will be processed digitally through QR code-based payment systems, making transactions faster and more secure.

Authorities also revealed plans to launch a new Passport Mobile App in the near future. The application will enable Pakistanis living both inside the country and abroad to submit passport applications online without visiting passport offices.

The upcoming digital platform is expected to simplify the passport application process by allowing users to track applications, complete required procedures remotely, and access passport services from their homes.

In addition, officials announced that the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports will gradually move toward issuing only e-passports. These passports contain advanced security features and are designed to meet international travel and identification standards.
