Saud Shakeel’s Place in Pakistan Test Squad in Doubt Due to Fitness Concerns

Pakistan middle-order batter Saud Shakeel is facing uncertainty over his inclusion in the national Test squad for the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England. Fitness concerns and an ongoing recovery process have cast doubt on his availability for the important red-ball assignments.

According to sources, the Pakistan team management is closely monitoring Saud Shakeel’s rehabilitation after an injury. While efforts are being made to ensure his return to full fitness, selectors are preparing contingency plans in case the left-handed batter is unable to recover in time.

Reports suggest that a replacement middle-order batter is being considered for inclusion in the ongoing red-ball training camp. The move is aimed at providing the team with additional options should Shakeel fail to meet the required fitness standards before the squad announcement.

Injury-related concerns have reportedly forced selectors to make several adjustments to their Test plans. Team officials are evaluating the fitness status of multiple players as Pakistan prepares for a demanding schedule against strong international opposition.

Before the concerns surrounding Saud Shakeel emerged, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was also reported to be dealing with fitness issues. As a precautionary measure, Rohail Nazir was called up to the red-ball camp to strengthen Pakistan’s wicketkeeping options.

Pakistan’s preparations for the West Indies and England tours are currently underway through an intensive red-ball camp. Coaches and management are focusing on player fitness, match readiness, and technical development to ensure the squad is fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
