The Parwaaz Card programme marked a major milestone as the Punjab government sent its first batch of 135 skilled youths to Saudi Arabia for employment opportunities. The initiative aims to support trained individuals seeking overseas jobs by providing financial assistance and workplace readiness training.
Speaking at a ceremony in Lahore, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the young people travelling abroad would serve as ambassadors of Pakistan. She emphasized that skilled workers represent the country’s values and professionalism wherever they are employed.
The chief minister stated that expanding access to quality vocational training has been a key objective of her administration. Through collaboration with the Punjab Skills Development Fund and the Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Department, the government is working to equip young people with market-oriented skills that meet international employment demands.
Officials informed the gathering that 135 candidates had secured jobs in Saudi Arabia under the Parwaaz Card initiative. The placements cover multiple sectors, including hospitality, healthcare, construction, and related industries. The first group includes 105 workers selected for hospitality and Quick Service Restaurant positions, while 30 individuals have been hired in the construction sector.
Maryam Nawaz encouraged the participants to represent Pakistan positively while working abroad. She said her vision extends beyond Punjab and focuses on creating opportunities for skilled youth across the country, enabling them to compete successfully in global job markets.
The Parwaaz Card programme offers interest-free financing to help workers manage pre-departure expenses. These costs include visa processing, air tickets, medical examinations, protector fees, and other travel-related requirements that often create financial barriers for job seekers.
Departures for Saudi Arabia are scheduled to begin on June 28. Under the broader initiative, 45,000 deserving individuals will receive interest-free loans worth Rs6.867 billion. The Parwaaz Card programme is expected to strengthen overseas employment opportunities while supporting economic empowerment and skills development among Pakistan’s youth.
