Karachi Implements Strict Security Measures for 9th Muharram Procession

The Karachi 9th Muharram procession is being held under heightened security arrangements as authorities take extensive measures to ensure the safety of participants and maintain public order. Thousands of mourners are expected to take part in the annual religious event.

The central Majlis of 9th Muharram was held at Nishtar Park at 10 a.m., where religious scholar Allama Shehenshah Hussain Naqvi addressed participants and highlighted the significance of the day.

Following the Majlis, the Karachi 9th Muharram procession is scheduled to begin from Nishtar Park at 1 p.m. The procession will travel through its traditional route, with mourners offering Zuhrain prayers near Imam Bargah Ali Raza on M.A. Jinnah Road.

According to Karachi Police, comprehensive security measures have been put in place for the procession. More than 5,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed along the route to ensure the safety of participants and prevent any untoward incidents.

Authorities have also sealed roads, streets, markets, and commercial areas connected to the procession route by placing containers at key locations. These restrictions are intended to regulate movement and strengthen security throughout the event.

As part of precautionary measures, mobile phone services have been temporarily suspended in and around Nishtar Park and adjoining areas. Officials say the suspension is aimed at supporting security operations and maintaining effective crowd management.

The Karachi 9th Muharram procession will conclude at Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar after passing through designated routes. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with security personnel and follow traffic advisories issued for the day.
