President, PM Urge Nation to Promote Ashura’s Message as Youm-e-Ashur Observed Across Pakistan

Youm-e-Ashur in Pakistan is being observed with religious devotion and solemnity as mourners across the country commemorate the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala. On the occasion, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on the nation to promote the true message of Ashura while strengthening unity and inter-sectarian harmony.

In his Ashura message, President Asif Ali Zardari said the tragedy of Karbala is not merely a historical event but an everlasting source of guidance for humanity. He appealed to religious scholars, the media, and young people to spread the values of tolerance, peace, and mutual respect inspired by Imam Hussain (RA).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Ashura as one of the most significant days in Islamic history. He said the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) teaches the principles of faith, patience, perseverance, courage, and selflessness while emphasizing the importance of standing for truth and justice.

Across the country, Youm-e-Ashur in Pakistan is marked by mourning gatherings, Majalis, Taazia, Alam, and Zuljanah processions. Religious scholars and Zakireen are addressing mourners, highlighting the lessons of Karbala and the enduring values of sacrifice and righteousness.

Major processions are taking place in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gilgit, Skardu, Muzaffarabad, and several other cities. Thousands of mourners, including men, women, and children, are participating in the religious observances.

Authorities have implemented strict security arrangements to ensure peaceful processions and gatherings. Law enforcement agencies remain deployed along procession routes, while traffic management plans have been introduced to facilitate mourners and the public.

Youm-e-Ashur in Pakistan also witnesses the distribution of Niaz and Sabeel along procession routes, where volunteers offer food and water in memory of the sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions. The day continues to inspire Muslims with the timeless values of justice, sacrifice, unity, and compassion.
