LPG Prices Continue to Rise Across Punjab

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices continue to rise across Lahore and other parts of Punjab despite the government’s officially notified rate, creating additional financial pressure on household consumers. The widening gap between the official price and market rates has raised concerns over price regulation and enforcement.

According to market sources, the government has fixed the official LPG price at Rs308 per kilogram. However, many retailers in Lahore are reportedly selling LPG at prices ranging between Rs480 and Rs500 per kilogram, significantly above the official rate.

Market sources further claimed that some retailers have been increasing prices by Rs10 to Rs20 per kilogram on a daily basis. The continued price hikes have made LPG increasingly expensive for domestic consumers, particularly families that rely on the fuel for cooking and heating.

The growing difference between official and market prices has sparked complaints from consumers, who say they are struggling to manage rising household expenses. Many have urged authorities to strengthen market monitoring and ensure compliance with government-approved rates.

Responding to the situation, Federal Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government would take action against those involved in selling LPG at inflated prices. He stated that strict measures would be implemented to discourage black marketing and protect consumers from unfair pricing practices.

The minister also announced that notices were being issued to LPG marketing companies, while relevant regulatory authorities had been directed to ensure strict implementation of the official price list.
