Zhob Bus Accident Kills 40 After Passenger Bus Plunges into Ravine

A Zhob bus accident claimed the lives of at least 40 people, including women and children, after a passenger bus reportedly suffered brake failure and plunged into a deep ravine in Balochistan. The tragedy occurred near the Danasar area of Zhob, while several injured passengers were rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police said the bus lost control after its brakes failed, causing the vehicle to fall into a gorge. Officials confirmed that eight people were injured in the crash, with children and women among the victims. Rescue teams responded quickly and shifted the injured to nearby medical facilities.

According to Balochistan Chief Minister’s Media Adviser Shahid Rind, the Zhob bus accident took place near the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said rescue operations were jointly carried out by authorities from both provinces, with support from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the Health Department, Frontier Corps (FC), and other emergency agencies.

Shahid Rind stated that preliminary reports indicate the bus was carrying more passengers than its normal capacity. He added that some passengers had reportedly boarded after another bus developed a fault during the journey, increasing the number of people on board before the fatal crash.

Authorities said identification of the deceased is underway while medical teams continue treating the injured. District officials have also launched a detailed investigation into the causes of the Zhob bus accident, including the reported brake failure and possible overloading.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the devastating incident and offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure that all injured passengers receive the best possible medical care without delay.

The Zhob bus accident has once again raised concerns about road safety, vehicle maintenance, and passenger transport standards in mountainous regions. Officials have assured the public that a complete investigation will be conducted and its findings will be made public after all evidence is reviewed.
