A fake National Assembly officer arrested in Pakistan has been taken into custody after allegedly posing as an employee of the National Assembly Secretariat and using forged official documents. The suspect is accused of falsely claiming to hold a Grade-17 government position and obtaining unauthorized privileges.
According to a spokesperson for the National Assembly Secretariat, the suspect, identified as Abdul Wajid, is a resident of Ghotki. Authorities said he falsely presented himself as an officer of the National Assembly Secretariat and claimed to be serving in a Grade-17 position.
The spokesperson stated that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested the suspect following an investigation into the case. During the operation, officials recovered a forged appointment letter allegedly issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, bearing fake signatures of the Speaker.
Initial findings suggest that Abdul Wajid used the fabricated documents to obtain unlawful benefits and official protocol by misrepresenting himself as a government officer. The matter reportedly came to light after public complaints and information shared on social media prompted immediate action.
The National Assembly Secretariat clarified that Abdul Wajid has never been employed by the institution and that no official record exists regarding his appointment. Officials emphasized that forging government documents or falsely claiming a public office constitutes a serious criminal offense under the law.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and verify the authenticity of any documents claiming to be issued by the National Assembly Secretariat or other government institutions. Citizens are also encouraged to report suspected cases of fraud to the relevant authorities to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
