The Police character certificate Pakistan system is set for a major overhaul after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved, in principle, a uniform nationwide mechanism for issuing police clearance certificates. The decision was made during a meeting held in Islamabad and is aimed at making the process faster, simpler, and more accessible for citizens.
According to the Ministry of Interior, police clearance certificates will now be issued through the National Police Bureau under a standardized system. The move is intended to replace varying provincial procedures with a single nationwide framework, ensuring greater consistency and convenience.
Mohsin Naqvi said the previously complicated process has been streamlined and fully digitized. Citizens will be able to apply for police character certificates through an online system, reducing paperwork and improving the speed of service delivery.
The interior minister also directed officials to establish a uniform mechanism for issuing international driving permits. He said the initiative will help create a more efficient process for Pakistanis who need official documentation before travelling abroad.
Naqvi noted that standardized procedures for both police clearance certificates and international driving permits would make life easier for overseas travelers. The reforms are expected to improve coordination among relevant institutions while enhancing public access to government services.
During the meeting, the minister emphasized that transforming the National Police Bureau into an active and dynamic institution is one of the government’s top priorities. He said strengthening the bureau will improve public service and support administrative reforms in the policing sector.
