Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said Iran will continue defending its rights and military capabilities, rejecting any pressure intended to force Tehran into submission. His remarks underline Iran’s determination to protect what it considers its national interests.
Speaking in the third and final part of a televised interview broadcast on Friday, Pezeshkian addressed Iran’s position on external pressure and national security. The programme was aired to mark the second anniversary of his inauguration, Press TV reported.
Pezeshkian said Iran would not accept demands designed to make the country surrender. He stressed that Tehran would continue pursuing its interests while resisting efforts to weaken its position or limit its ability to defend itself.
The Iranian president also rejected the possibility of abandoning the country’s military capabilities. He described the preservation of Iran’s military and defensive strength as a matter that could not be compromised, reflecting Tehran’s continued focus on national defence.
Pezeshkian questioned why Iran should follow a course that he said was being sought by Israel. He argued that Iran has the ability to protect its rights and interests and therefore should not be expected to abandon its defensive capabilities under outside pressure.
His comments come amid continuing tensions surrounding Iran’s security and regional position. The president maintained that Iran would neither retreat from its stated interests nor accept surrender, while continuing to defend what it regards as its legitimate rights.
The remarks reinforce Tehran’s stated position that its military capabilities and defensive strength will remain central to its national security policy. Pezeshkian’s message was clear: Iran intends to resist pressure and preserve its ability to defend its interests.
