A dramatic scene unfolded in Kosovo’s parliament when opposition lawmaker Time Kadrijaj threw eggs at acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti during a tense parliamentary session. The Kosovo Parliament egg throwing incident came amid an ongoing political dispute over the election of a new parliamentary speaker.
According to international media reports, Kadrijaj, a member of the Alliance party, threw four eggs in Kurti’s direction while shouting slogans during the session. The incident briefly intensified an already heated atmosphere inside the parliament.
The confrontation took place as lawmakers continued discussions related to the selection of a parliamentary speaker. Kurti reportedly asked for additional time to complete the process, but opposition parties strongly objected to the request.
Kosovo has remained without an elected parliamentary speaker since elections held in June. The prolonged deadlock has created further political uncertainty and increased tensions between the ruling side and opposition lawmakers.
Opposition parties argued that the constitutional court’s deadline for resolving the issue had already expired. They therefore claimed that holding the parliamentary session at this stage was unconstitutional.
The dispute over the speaker’s election has become another major challenge for Kosovo’s political institutions. The latest confrontation demonstrates the growing frustration among opposition lawmakers as political parties remain divided over the way forward.
