FIA Offloads 3 Passengers at Karachi Airport Over Suspected Irregularities

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has offloaded three passengers, including a woman, during separate operations at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi over allegedly suspicious travel purposes, suspected fake medical documents and possible human trafficking concerns.

According to FIA officials, two passengers, identified as Wasim Haider and Sajid Parvez, were stopped while attempting to travel to Malaysia. Authorities alleged that the pair had used fake medical documents to conceal their actual purpose of travel.

During initial questioning, Wasim reportedly claimed that he was travelling to Malaysia for spinal treatment, while Sajid was accompanying him as an attendant. However, officials said that further questioning allegedly revealed that their actual intention was to seek employment in Malaysia.

The investigation also reportedly found that alleged facilitators, identified as Rehan and Imran, had arranged the passengers’ visit visas and air tickets. Authorities further alleged that a fake MRI report in Wasim Haider’s name had been prepared to support the claimed medical purpose. The passengers were allegedly instructed to tell immigration officials that they were travelling for medical treatment.

Both passengers were offloaded from the flight and referred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC) in Karachi for further investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities are also investigating the alleged role of the facilitators in arranging the travel.

In a separate case, a female passenger identified as Hamna Shakeel was stopped while travelling to Baku, Azerbaijan, over what officials described as a suspicious travel purpose. According to the FIA, she told investigators that she was travelling to meet a man she had contacted through a dating application and was allegedly promised Rs3 million in return, while her travel and accommodation expenses were also reportedly to be covered by him.

The FIA said a voluntary examination of the passenger’s mobile phone allegedly revealed suspicious conversations concerning meetings in exchange for money. Officials said the woman also provided information about alleged previous sexual exploitation and physical abuse, as well as claims involving a possible network in Karachi. Authorities said the case is being investigated from the perspectives of possible sexual exploitation and human trafficking, while the woman is also being assessed as a potential victim requiring legal and protective assistance.
