A major development has emerged in the Mir Raza case, with DNA testing confirming a match between Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali and his parents, according to investigative sources.
Sources said the University of Karachi’s chemical laboratory has also submitted its report to the relevant authorities. Officials clarified that the chemical report is separate from the DNA examination conducted by the DNA laboratory.
Investigators said chemical testing of Mir Raza’s shirt has been completed. The examination reportedly detected traces of hydrochloric acid on the shirt, adding a new element to the ongoing investigation.
Investigative sources further said substances associated with a sedative were detected in Mir Raza’s blood sample. The findings are being examined as investigators continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the case.
The investigation also found gunshot residue, commonly known as GSR, on the waist area of Mir Raza’s shirt. Investigators said the higher concentration of residue around the waist could indicate that the bullet struck from the back or waist side.
Meanwhile, two more officials have been added to the Mir Raza case investigation team. According to a notification, DSP Sirajuddin and Inspector Muhammad Ali have joined the team, increasing its strength to seven members.
The former investigation officer also appeared before the Judicial Magistrate East and requested additional time to submit the investigation report. The court accepted the request and directed that the report be submitted by August 15, while the newly appointed investigation officer is expected to appear at the next hearing.
