UAE ADNOC vessel attack

UAE Condemns Attack on ADNOC Vessel in Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned an alleged Iranian attack on an ADNOC-affiliated vessel while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE ADNOC vessel attack reportedly caused no injuries.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a hostile attack and expressed concern over the targeting of a commercial vessel. The ministry said such actions threaten maritime security and regional stability.

The UAE said the incident amounted to a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasises freedom of navigation and rejects attacks against commercial vessels or attempts to obstruct international maritime routes.

The UAE ADNOC vessel attack has also raised concerns about the security of one of the world’s most important maritime routes. The Strait of Hormuz is a major channel for international energy shipments and global commercial trade.

The Emirati ministry accused Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of using the waterway as a means of economic pressure. It said attacks on commercial shipping could pose a direct threat to regional stability, local populations and global energy security.

The UAE called on Iran to immediately halt what it described as unprovoked attacks. Abu Dhabi also urged Tehran to fully comply with an immediate cessation of hostilities and take steps to prevent further incidents involving commercial shipping.

The UAE further demanded the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. It said keeping the waterway open is essential for regional security, international trade and the stability of the global economy as tensions continue to rise.
