Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif has said the situation that recently emerged in Azad Kashmir is a matter of concern for everyone. Nawaz Sharif Azad Kashmir remarks came during a meeting of the party’s parliamentary group in Murree.
Nawaz Sharif blamed previous governments for failing to fulfil their responsibilities and said there was no room for disappointing public expectations. He promised that his party would work to transform Azad Kashmir in a manner similar to Punjab.
The former prime minister said public welfare should remain the top priority in the region. He called for increased development funding and said roads and hospitals should be built while more employment opportunities and tourism projects should be created.
Nawaz Sharif also proposed providing laptops and scholarships to students in Azad Kashmir. He said farmers should receive Kisan Cards and stressed that people in the region wanted development facilities similar to those available in Punjab.
The Nawaz Sharif Azad Kashmir address also included criticism of political conduct during the recent elections. He congratulated those who won and praised unsuccessful candidates for their efforts, while expressing concern over complaints that emerged during the electoral process.
He said political differences should not turn into personal hostility and regretted the loss of some of his party’s candidates. Nawaz said the reasons behind their defeats should be examined and urged party workers not to lose confidence after the first two phases of the election.
Nawaz Sharif also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts to improve Pakistan’s economic situation. He said the government was working to address economic challenges, reduce dependence on the IMF and make Pakistan economically self-reliant, while calling for a helicopter to support administration in the mountainous region of Azad Kashmir.
