The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has announced the schedule for elections to eight reserved seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly. The election process will take place over several days, with polling scheduled to be held inside the Assembly on August 24.
According to the AJK Election Commission, candidates contesting the reserved seats will submit their nomination papers on August 20. The nomination process will be an important step toward completing the election for the eight vacant reserved positions in the legislative body.
The commission has further announced that the final list of candidates will be published on August 23. The announcement will confirm the candidates eligible to participate in the final stage of the reserved-seat election.
Polling for the AJK Assembly reserved seats will take place on August 24. The voting will be conducted in the Legislative Assembly, where the relevant members will cast their votes to elect representatives to the reserved positions.
The eight reserved seats include five seats for women, reflecting the constitutional provision for female representation in the AJK Legislative Assembly. These seats are intended to ensure greater representation of women in the region’s legislative process.
In addition to the women’s seats, the reserved category includes one seat for Ulema and Mashaikh, one seat for overseas Kashmiris and one seat for a technocrat. Together, these categories make up the total eight reserved seats.
