Heavy Rains Kill Three as Floods Hit Pakistan

Heavy rains in Pakistan have killed three people and injured two others in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Flooding, landslides and house collapses have also disrupted life in Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, rain-related incidents were reported in Abbottabad, Swat, Buner, Swabi and Lower South Waziristan. At least eight houses were damaged, with three completely destroyed.

In Swabi, rescue teams used boats and life jackets to move more than 30 people to safer areas. Two people also died after a building collapsed in Topi, while two others were rescued from the rubble.

Meanwhile, heavy rains caused major damage in Attock. A roof collapsed in Fateh Jang, while a culvert near Akhori was damaged by fast-moving rainwater. The road closure affected traffic and several nearby villages.

The heavy rains in Pakistan also caused flooding in Charsadda and Sarai Alamgir. Water entered homes, schools and shops, while several roads and low-lying areas remained submerged. Authorities issued safety warnings and advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel.

In Gujrat and Haripur, rescue teams were placed on alert as rainwater flooded low-lying areas. Several vehicles became stranded, while homes and businesses suffered damage. In Narowal, floodwater washed away a road connecting more than 20 villages and submerged farmland.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, a glacier burst in Diamer’s Niyat Valley triggered flooding and damaged homes, crops, trees and bridges. Relief teams have been deployed, while authorities continue rescue and damage-assessment operations as heavy rains in Pakistan persist.
