Islamabad Rawalpindi Security Lockdown Causes Major Disruption

The Islamabad Rawalpindi security lockdown has caused widespread disruption in daily life as authorities enforced strict measures ahead of high-level US-Iran peace talks in the capital. Entire neighborhoods were sealed, leaving many residents confined to their homes.

According to officials, key roads including Old Airport Road and routes leading to Nur Khan Airbase were closed using containers and barbed wire. The Islamabad Rawalpindi security lockdown turned several residential areas into restricted zones with limited mobility for citizens.

Multiple localities such as Shah Khalid Colony, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Airport Housing Society, and Mangtal Town were heavily affected. Residents reported difficulty accessing basic necessities due to sudden closures under the Islamabad Rawalpindi security lockdown plan.

Public transport services were also severely disrupted. Metro buses and electric bus routes were partially suspended or diverted, forcing commuters—including students and workers—to walk long distances to reach their destinations.

Residents expressed frustration over lack of prior notice. Many said they were unable to store essential supplies, while some complained about shortages of food and water due to the ongoing Islamabad Rawalpindi security lockdown.

Authorities stated that these measures were necessary to ensure foolproof security for foreign delegations attending diplomatic talks. Over 5,000 police personnel, along with Elite Force and paramilitary units, were deployed across the twin cities.

Despite assurances of alternative routes and emergency planning, citizens continued to face hardship as markets, transport hubs, and key roads remained closed under the Islamabad Rawalpindi security lockdown, highlighting the scale of the operation.
