The Sohail Afridi CM KPK challenge has emerged as a major political development after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat announced that he will legally contest the appointment of Sohail Afridi as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Raising concerns over governance, the Sohail Afridi CM KPK challenge was announced during an interaction with media, where Marwat criticized the province’s administrative performance and claimed that public services, especially in the health sector, were deteriorating.

Marwat further stated that despite earlier advice from senior party leadership, he has decided to proceed with the Sohail Afridi CM KPK challenge, claiming that legal action will be taken in court against the appointment process.
He also referenced past court decisions, arguing that legal precedents regarding party leadership and political appointments support his position. The Sohail Afridi CM KPK challenge is expected to focus on procedural and constitutional grounds.
According to Marwat, the decision to appoint Sohail Afridi has weakened the party’s internal structure. He claimed that continued leadership under Afridi could further divide the party and reduce its political strength.
