Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed the strength of Pakistan-China relations, saying the friendship between the two countries has remained steadfast and has successfully withstood every test of time. He made these remarks during a ceremony marking the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the event was attended by China’s Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force. Field Marshal Asim Munir welcomed the distinguished guests at the ceremony.
Congratulating the PLA on its 99th founding anniversary, the Chief of Defence Forces praised its contributions to China’s national defence, economic development, and efforts to promote regional and global peace and security. He acknowledged the PLA’s role in strengthening stability and international cooperation.
Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that Pakistan and China share a time-tested friendship built on mutual trust and respect. He said the bilateral relationship has remained strong despite changing regional and global challenges, reflecting the strategic partnership between the two nations.
He further emphasized that the Pakistan Armed Forces and the People’s Liberation Army are genuine partners committed to safeguarding regional peace, stability, and shared strategic interests. He noted that defence cooperation between the two militaries continues to grow through mutual understanding and collaboration.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked Field Marshal Asim Munir for hosting the event and appreciated the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces in the fight against terrorism. He also reaffirmed China’s continued support for Pakistan and its commitment to further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The ceremony highlighted the longstanding defence ties and diplomatic cooperation between Pakistan and China, with both sides reiterating their shared commitment to peace, security, and closer bilateral relations in the years ahead.
