Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with a visiting delegation of US Congress members at the General Headquarters (GHQ), where both sides discussed regional security, economic cooperation, and opportunities to strengthen Pakistan-US bilateral relations. The meeting reflected the shared interest of both countries in expanding cooperation beyond defence into trade and investment.
The US delegation included Congressman Ryan Zinke from Montana and Congressman Michael James from Washington. Discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment, defence collaboration, and prospects for deeper economic engagement between Pakistan and the United States.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasised that sustainable regional stability depends on economic growth, increased trade, and stronger regional connectivity. He noted that long-term peace can be achieved by promoting economic partnerships and creating opportunities for shared prosperity across the region.
The Field Marshal also highlighted Pakistan’s significant economic potential and outlined ongoing reforms aimed at creating a business-friendly environment. He said these measures are designed to attract foreign investment, encourage private sector participation, and support sustainable economic development.
Members of the US congressional delegation acknowledged Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional ties and expanding economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.
