Khawaja Asif Says Kashmiri Refugees’ Sacrifices Strengthen Pakistan-Kashmir Bond

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has emphasized the importance of Kashmiri refugees, describing their sacrifices as a vital part of Pakistan’s connection with the Kashmir cause.

Addressing party workers during an election gathering in LA-36 Jammu-3, he said the upcoming elections carry greater significance because they are linked to the protection of Kashmir’s identity and future.

Speaking to supporters, Khawaja Asif stated that he has witnessed many elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir, but the current political environment is unlike previous contests. According to him, this election is not merely about political competition but about demonstrating commitment to the Kashmir cause and supporting the people of the region.

The defence minister praised the resilience of Kashmiri refugees, saying their contributions and sacrifices cannot be overlooked. He noted that many people gave their lives in pursuit of freedom and that these sacrifices continue to inspire future generations. He stressed that the value of those who endured hardship for the cause remains unmatched.

Khawaja Asif also referred to the challenges faced by many young Kashmiris who publicly expressed support for Pakistan. He said numerous individuals disappeared after raising pro-Pakistan slogans, adding that their sacrifices should always be remembered. He questioned whether those living comfortably abroad could fully understand the hardships experienced by people living in conflict-affected areas.

Highlighting the historical relationship between Pakistan and Kashmir, the minister recalled the statement of Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who described Kashmir as the country’s “jugular vein.”

The minister also praised Pakistan’s armed forces, saying they have made significant sacrifices in recent years while protecting the country’s security. He paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans, stating that their dedication reflects patriotism and national service.
