LAHORE: Pakistan suffered a major batting collapse against Sri Lanka, getting bowled out for just 110 runs in the fifth match of the Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka ODI tri-series at Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.
After winning the toss, Sri Lankan captain elected to bowl first. Pakistan struggled to build partnerships and were dismissed in just 25.3 overs, leaving their bowlers with a challenging task in the match.
Pakistan’s top order failed to make a significant contribution. Opener Fakhar Zaman scored five runs before edging a delivery and being caught. Maaz Sadaqat followed for eight after being trapped leg before wicket by an incoming delivery from Fernando.
Wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig was dismissed for five when Pakistan’s total reached 46. Salman Ali Agha managed nine runs, while Babar Azam top-scored for Pakistan with 29 before losing his wicket.
Shadab Khan, who had scored a match-winning century against England in Pakistan’s previous game, could not repeat that performance and departed for just two runs. Pakistan had lost six wickets for 64 runs, putting the innings under severe pressure.
Arafat Minhas scored 10 before being dismissed at a total of 91, while Hasan Nawaz contributed 17 runs. Haris Rauf added one run, Shaheen Shah Afridi scored 15, and Naseem Shah made two as Pakistan’s innings came to an end at 110.
