According to an official statement, both sides discussed similarities in their development experiences and the benefits of learning from each other’s economic progress. The meeting highlighted the importance of sharing knowledge and adopting effective approaches to support sustainable growth. Both countries also explored ways to strengthen their existing relationship through closer engagement.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb briefed the Ethiopian ambassador on Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms and measures to promote economic development. He discussed the country’s efforts to improve economic conditions and strengthen financial stability. The talks also highlighted opportunities to expand cooperation in trade and investment between the two countries.

Banking links and financial cooperation featured prominently during the meeting. Both sides emphasised the need to strengthen banking connections to support trade and facilitate financial transactions. Improved financial links could help businesses explore new markets and create opportunities for investment. The discussions reflected a shared interest in developing stronger economic partnerships.

The two sides also reviewed the impact of regional conflicts on energy supplies, fertiliser availability and food security. They stressed the importance of advance planning and mutual cooperation to manage external economic shocks. Disruptions in these areas can affect agricultural production, business activity and broader economic stability, making coordinated responses important.

Better transport links could facilitate business visits, tourism and exchanges between professionals. Stronger personal and institutional connections may also help businesses identify new opportunities and develop long-term partnerships across both countries.

Their priorities include expanding trade, encouraging investment and strengthening economic and financial relations. Although the meeting focused on cooperation opportunities, the statement did not announce specific trade targets, investment commitments or new agreements.
