Trump Urges Israelis to Vote for Netanyahu

US President Donald Trump urges Israelis to vote for Netanyahu ahead of the country’s parliamentary elections scheduled for Tuesday, October 27. Trump renewed his public support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, describing him as a wartime leader. He called on voters to support Netanyahu to continue their joint efforts, particularly regarding Iran.

In a social media post, Trump urged Israelis to back Netanyahu, who is widely known by his nickname, Bibi. He said the two leaders had achieved significant military results through their cooperation. Trump also stressed that their joint efforts should continue, linking Netanyahu’s leadership to their shared objectives in the region.

Trump highlighted their military actions against Iran, claiming they had prevented Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He also referred to slogans used by some groups that describe Israel as the “Little Satan” and the United States as the “Great Satan.” He said such slogans should no longer be heard around the world.

The US president’s latest statement reinforces his support for Netanyahu as the Israeli election approaches. Trump had previously endorsed the Israeli prime minister on October 18. His renewed appeal comes as Netanyahu seeks another term amid domestic political divisions and continuing security concerns.

Netanyahu has presented his relationship with Trump as an important part of his political position, particularly regarding Iran and regional security. Their cooperation has included military action against Iranian targets. However, the two leaders have also differed over aspects of regional policy, including approaches to conflicts in the Middle East.

Netanyahu’s main political challenger, Gadi Eisenkot, has focused on national unity and security during the election campaign. He has also argued that Israeli voters should determine their country’s leadership independently. The campaign has highlighted differing views on security, governance and the country’s future direction.

The Israeli parliamentary election will take place on October 27, with political parties competing to form the next government. Trump’s direct appeal has added an international dimension to the campaign. However, the impact of his endorsement on voters remains uncertain. The election will determine the composition of Israel’s next parliament and shape its domestic and foreign policy priorities.
