Pakistan Pushes for Progress in US-Iran Peace Talks

Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to help advance the ongoing US-Iran Peace Talks amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Pakistani Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi held another round of discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Tehran on Friday.

According to Iranian media reports, the meeting focused on proposals aimed at ending the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. The talks come as Tehran and Washington continue to disagree over Iran’s uranium stockpile and restrictions linked to the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest diplomatic engagement followed Pakistan’s recent communication of a new US message to Iranian officials. Analysts believe Islamabad is attempting to play a constructive role in easing tensions and encouraging dialogue between the two sides during the sensitive phase of the US-Iran Peace Talks.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that there were “good signs” in the negotiations but warned that no agreement would be possible if Iran imposed tolls or restrictions on shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The strategic waterway is vital for global oil and gas transportation.

The conflict has already caused major disruptions in global energy markets. Rising oil prices and uncertainty over shipping routes have increased concerns about inflation and economic instability worldwide. Experts say reduced traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is adding pressure to energy supplies.

US President Donald Trump also commented on the situation, saying Washington would not allow Iran to retain highly enriched uranium. Iranian officials, however, maintain that their nuclear activities are intended for peaceful purposes and have rejected demands to move uranium stockpiles abroad.

Observers say the future of the US-Iran Peace Talks remains uncertain despite recent diplomatic efforts. Key disagreements over sanctions, uranium enrichment, regional security, and maritime control continue to block a final breakthrough, while Pakistan’s mediation efforts are being closely watched internationally.
