Pakistan has carried out strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan following reported drone incursions from Afghan territory, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Thursday. He said Pakistan’s air defence systems detected and neutralised the drones before they could reach their intended targets.
According to Tarar, the Pakistan Afghanistan strikes targeted locations allegedly used to launch and store drones. He described the operation as a response to an attempted incursion into Pakistani territory and said the targets were linked to the reported attacks.
Tarar said Pakistan considers the drone incursion a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stated that the strikes were carried out under Pakistan’s claimed right to self-defence and described the response as limited to identified military objectives.
The minister said Pakistan had repeatedly raised concerns with the Afghan Taliban authorities over militant networks allegedly operating from Afghan soil. He called for concrete and verifiable action against groups that Pakistan says are using Afghan territory to plan or launch attacks.

Tarar said Pakistan would respond to violations of its territory while maintaining that it did not seek a broader escalation. He urged the Afghan authorities to prevent their territory from being used for attacks against Pakistan and called for sustained measures against militant groups.
The latest development follows heightened security tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Earlier on Thursday, security sources reported that eight drones entering Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan had been intercepted in areas near Torkham and Kohat.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have faced prolonged tensions over cross-border militancy since the Taliban returned to power in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly accused militant groups of operating from Afghan territory, while Afghan authorities have rejected such allegations. The latest Pakistan Afghanistan strikes add another development to the strained bilateral security situation.
