The latest AJK election results have been announced after Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured one seat each in the delayed constituencies of Muzaffarabad Division. The unofficial and unconfirmed results marked the completion of the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections.
Polling for LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I and LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II was conducted after elections in both constituencies were postponed earlier due to unfavorable weather conditions. Voting took place at all polling stations, and results were announced after the completion of the counting process.
According to unofficial results, PML-N candidate Noreen Arif won the LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I seat by securing 18,919 votes. She defeated Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party candidate Sardar Tabarak Ali, who received 18,621 votes. The contest remained close between the two candidates.
In LA-28 Muzaffarabad-II, PPP candidate Bazil Ali Naqvi won the seat with 28,170 votes, while PML-N candidate Chaudhry Shehzad secured the second position with 26,864 votes. With these results, the unofficial outcome of all 21 constituencies contested during the second phase has now been completed.
The updated AJK election results show that PML-N has increased its second-phase seat tally to 15, while PPP has secured six seats. The results have further shaped the political position of both major parties in the ongoing AJK electoral process.
The AJK Election Commission has announced that polling in the constituencies of Poonch Division will take place according to schedule on August 10. Officials urged voters to ignore rumors and assured that any changes in the election schedule would be communicated officially.
Meanwhile, political tensions continued as PPP leader Sherry Rehman alleged irregularities during polling in LA-27 and called for an investigation. PML-N leaders rejected the allegations, calling them baseless and part of a misinformation campaign. Both parties exchanged accusations while the Election Commission continues overseeing the electoral process.
